My story
Writing - Creating - Connecting
I’ll be honest, I don’t have a spectacular story, but in the folds of its
unextraordinary splendor is a story most tired parents can relate to.
I wrote my first book when I was pregnant with my oldest. It started as a lullaby that I would sing to her in my belly. Then I expanded the concept to set it up as a book. I knew exactly what I wanted the pages to look like, the size of the book and the finished product was a finished masterpiece...in my head.
Then life happened. I had my 1st baby, then 2nd, then 3rd and 4th. I blinked and it was 10 years later. My google calendar looks like a rainbow threw-up on it - covered with coaching, lessons, work and appointments, there was no way I was making time for writing. However, I was still dealing with the nagging feeling of leaving that (in my opinion) amazing idea unfinished, so I decided to go for it. With the full support of my incredible husband I finally finished it for real with the help of my crazy talented illustrator Monika Marzec. In 2022 I successfully self published "So You Say You Can't Sleep..." and I could call it done!
The copies had barely hit my porch when I realized my two older girls were far too old for this book. Shoot! So I brainstormed what kind of publication I could make for them. Over breakfast we would often talk about what we dreamt about the night before so I made them "A Dreamer's Journal for Kids". This was a journal to record their dreams and practice writing that also has fun activity pages to keep them engaged. It was perfect for their age range.
Then...I met Amy. Amy was telling me about the non profit “Beloved”. They provide “go bags” for children being removed from their homes through CPS. These bags contain needed items from hygiene products to stuffies. They also try to include things like journals for the older kids. My Dream Journal has some positive affirmation pages that she liked but over all the vibe was simply for recording dreams. After hearing some of the stories of these kids waiting for placement and the kind of tool they could use, I decided to make a journal that was intentional and fitting.
The Good Days / Bad Days Journal was created with entry pages, activity pages, thoughtful prompts and helpful every day tools. Turns out, this Journal is made for so much more than we planned and is expanding its purpose daily!
So there they are, the three (for now) publications I have on hand.
I’m currently working on a new journal that is geared towards young adult/adults but still centers around mental health as well as a new children's book with a fun and playful twist for the holidays! Stay tuned!

SO, you’ve got a little one that just “can’t sleep.” They’ve gotten their water, back rubs/tickles, two or more stories, a song (or three) and still they’re peering at the light in the hall like they’re missing out on some big party. In reality we parents/caretakers are just folding laundry, breathing deeply, and catching up on something other than cartoons. What they’re really missing out on is the incredible world they can create in their dreams! This book illustrates just a few of those imaginative places and reminds them that the real adventures are “right behind the sleep they want to fight.”
